Seeing Hazards...
Starts With Our Ability To See Them In The First Place
The Impact of Visual Literacy in EHS
The same tools used in art education to see detail and interpret meaning can be applied to identifying workplace hazards and improving safety performance. COVE: Center of Visual Expertise, created by the Toledo Museum of Art, brings this approach into industrial and service environments—teaching people how to see more clearly, interpret what they observe, and take more informed action. Rooted in years of art education, Visual Literacy strengthens hazard identification and incident investigation by improving how individuals notice and make sense of their surroundings.
